O2 Refresh tariffs now available for tablets

O2 has announced it now offers select tablets on its O2 Refresh tariffs, letting you purchase one without having to fork out the up-front cost.

With O2 Refresh, you now won’t need to pay a huge upfront cost if you want a 4G tablet, but will be able to pay off the slate on a data plan just like your smartphone, spreading that cost over 24 months.

To begin with, the only tablets available on O2 Refresh are the Sony Xperia Z2 Tablet, Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 8.0 and 10.1, Dell Venue Pro, Google Nexus 7 2 and Huawei Mediapad M1 8.0.

However, if you already have a tablet, you can buy 4G or 3G SIM-only data plans from O2 as well.

“Only with O2 can you change your tech whenever you like without having to pay the penalty on your airtime,” said Nina Bibby, Marketing and Consumer Director at O2. “Encouraging feedback from our customers has led us to launch it on tablets this week so more people can benefit from payments spread overtime or paying off early without penalty.”

O2 has given a great example as to how the O2 Refresh tariffs work with tablets, using Z2 Tablet.

Usually, the brand new Sony slate would cost £529.99 up-front through O2, but using O2 Refresh you can pay £36 per month over 24 months, which boils down to £21/month for the tablet itself and £15/month in airtime.

For this monthly payment figure, you’d get 3GB of 4G data each month and you’d actually only end up paying £504 in total for the Z2 tablet.

The added benefit of the Refresh plans is that you can choose to pay off your handset or tablet cost whenever you have the money.
