Microsoft Surface Pro 3 launched with 12-inch display

Microsoft has official unveiled the Microsoft Surface Pro 3 with a 12-inch display.

Rather than launch a smaller version of its tablet range, Microsoft has opted to launch a 12-inch version that it claims "can replace your laptop".

Microsoft claims this 12-inch Surface will be the gap that helps solve the problems you have when trying to decide between a laptop and tablet.

That 12-inch display comes with a 2160 x 1440p full HD resolution, which is a distinct upgrade over the previous Surface Pro 2.

The Surface Pro 3 is both thinner and lighter than its predecessor, with Microsoft going as far as comparing its new tablet with the MacBook Air. It measures up at 9.1mm thick and weighs 800g.

Despite its size too, the Surface Pro 3 packs an Intel Core i7 process and is fanless. Instead, the air is circulated around the tablet and emitted through small vents in the sides.

That new processor means that the Surface Pro 3 has a 10 per cent performance boost over the Surface Pro 2.
