Samsung Tizen phone makes premature appearance on eBay

Samsung’s first Tizen handset has made yet another premature appearance, this time making a brief appearance on auction site eBay.

With company’s first Tizen OS powered smartphone widely expected to make its first formal appearance during Samsung’s pre-MWC press conference next month, Samsung has seen the device leak online once again, with images and specs accompanying the sales post.

Listed under the title “New Tizen Samsung SM-Z9005 smartphone for apps development,” the pre-release handset was shown on eBay alongside a $300 (£182) starting bid before being hastily withdrawn.

Hinting at a range of the phone’s upcoming components, the Samsung Tizen handset claimed that the device sports a 4.7-inch display as well as 16GB of internal storage.

Images of the handset show a device with a curved edge display wrapped in a squared off plastic body. Like the existing Samsung Galaxy S4, the phone will seemingly sport a large physical home button beneath its screen.

Although recent invites have all but confirmed the Samsung Tizen handset will be formally announced on February 23, an official Samsung spokesperson recently hinted that the phone is facing further delays.

“It is true that the release has been delayed,” the Samsung representative reportedly said last week. They are quoted as adding: “Previously we had planned to release in the first half of this year in several countries, including Korea and Russia.”
