LG has officially revealed that the LG G Pro 2 will be released next month.
The Korean company confirmed recent rumours when it announced that its new phablet device would launch next month. This presumably means that we’ll see the device at MWC 2014 towards the end of February.
LG didn’t have anything more to say about the LG G Pro 2, but its specs and dimensions have been heavily rumoured in recent months.
We’re expecting it to feature a 6-inch (up from the 5.5.-inch original Optimus G Pro) 1080p display, a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 quad-core CPU, 3GB of RAM, and -perhaps most excitingly of all - an iPhone 5S-like fingerprint scanner. It should run on Android 4.4 KitKat.
This news will disappoint some, as it appears to confirm by extension that we won’t see the LG G3 at the same Barcelona show come February 24.
LG’s next flagship smartphone is expected to sport a 2,560 x 1,440 '2K' display as its headline feature. It could also herald LG’s switch to its own custom processors rather than continuing to rely on off-the-shelf Qualcomm solutions.
It seems we’ll have to wait a little longer for the LG G3 reveal, then, with the release date tipped for May. For now, at least, we know that the LG G Pro 2 is just a month away from taking a bow.
