Philips Elevation launched with four-sided Ambilight technology

Philips has launched its latest 60-inch TV, the Philips Elevation, complete with four-sided ambilight and Philips Hue connectivity.

Consumers will now be able to enjoy Ambilight four-sided XL technology with the Philips Elevation 60-inch TV, extending the soft lighting wider around the TV.

Philips has also unveiled its new Amblight Plus Hue Android and iOS apps that allows any Ambilight featuring TV from 2011 onwards to connect with the Philips hue wireless connected LED lighting system.

This free app enables consumers to extend the Ambilight experience to the entire living room.

Philips Elevation Features

The first Philips TV to utilise the Ambilight 4-sided XL technology, the Philips Elevation uses 94 powerful LEDs to extend the picture colours beyond the confines of the TV set. The Ambilight technology matches the colour of the images on screen to make the TV viewing experience more immersive and attempts to make it look like the TV is floating.

Previously, as with models like the Philips 46PFL8008S, the Ambilight technology only applied to three sides of the TV sets, which was a little disappointing.

With a Full 1080p HD resolution, the Philips Elevation is a slim TV set at just 13.5mm thick. In fact, Philips says it is the slimmest TV it’s ever produced.

Packing Philips Smart interaction features too, the Philips Elevation TV is a 60-inch TV compatible with the new Philips Plus Hue smartphone app.

Any more specs for the Philips Elevation are still unknown, but Philips says it has “great picture quality” and “brings together all the innovative aspects of Philips TVs.”

Philips Elevation Release Date and Price

The 60-inch Philips Elevation will be available in Europe from Q3 2013. It will be priced at £2,800.
