Lenovo ThinkPad T440s with Haswell CPU unveiled

Lenovo has revealed a new Haswell-powered business Ultrabook, the ThinkPad 440s, though it doesn't appear to be making a song and dance about it.

The Lenovo ThinkPad T440s has cropped up on its own product page with practically no fanfare or even an official statement.

It appears to be a highly capable Ultrabook, though, judging by the specs that are on show. These include a 14-inch Full HD (1,920 x 1,080) IPS display, which comes with the optional multitouch capability. Lenovo claims that it also has "nearly 180 degree" viewing angles.

Lenovo reckons that the ThinkPad T440s is "the thinnest and lightest ThinkPad T series laptop" that it offers, with a weight of 3.5 lbs (1.59 kg) and a relatively slinky 21mm profile at its thickest point.

As already mentioned, the ThinkPad T440s comes with the latest fourth generation Intel processor technology, known as Haswell. This offers improved performance and superior battery life (it's good for six hours) to previous iterations.

Elsewhere the Lenovo ThinkPad T440 has Dolby speakers, three USB 3.0 ports, a 720p webcam (complete with noise cancelling microphones), NFC, and a Power Bridge battery that can be replaced without turning the Ultrabook off.

All this combined with the ThinkPad range's legendary toughness - including a carbon fibre top and magnesium bottom - has led Lenovo to dub the T440s "The ultimate 14" business Ultrabook."

There's no information on when we'll be able to put this assertion to the test, but the Lenovo ThinkPad T440s is listed as "coming soon."
