So, it looks like Apple Watch buyers really aren’t going to have to worry about buying additional screen protectors, judging by a new scratch test video posted on Thursday.

iPhonefixed.co.uk (via MacRumors) got its paws on a Apple Watch sapphire display component and decided to put it through some pretty arduous testing.

During the video, the sapphire crystal glass screen shrugs off encounters with coins, keys and stone walls like it ain’t no thing. However, the really impressive part comes when the site put it up against a hammer and a power drill.

The display apparently survives the battles in pristine condition, free from scratches, scuffs or cracks.

The test backs up Apple’s promotion of the Apple Watch and Apple Watch Edition display as a completely scratch resistant solution.

The Apple Watch Sport, which features an Ion-X glass display cover, was not tested by the site, so it’s unclear whether it will offer the same resistance against scratches.

The Apple Watch goes up for pre-order exclusively online on Friday. Users will be able to try them on in store, but won’t be able to order them at retail outlets.

Pre-orders begin at 8:01am tomorrow in the UK.
