Over the last week, iPhone apps containing Apple Watch support have started to trickle onto the App Store.
Those apps contained very few surprises as they were limited to Apple’s selected partners, many of whom had shown their hand via Apple’s promotion material.
Now things are about to get interesting as Apple has today opened the floodgates for submissions from any of the registered App Store developers.
This means we’re about to see a host of iOS apps from developers fulfilling their own unique vision for Apple’s first wearable.
“It’s time,” Apple wrote (via 9to5Mac) on its developer website on Tuesday.
“Apple Watch will be in the hands of customers on April 24. Get your WatchKit apps ready and submit them for review now.”

The timing of Apple’s announcement is also significant as the Apple Watch release date is still more than three weeks away.
By opening up the review process today, Apple is assuring first day buyers will have a healthy array of apps to choose from right out of the box.
Remember, the Apple Watch doesn’t have the ability to store standalone apps, so apps with watch support must be built into iPhone apps and released as updates.
