Motorola has admitted that some of its Nexus 6 devices are suffering from a chassis defect out of the box.
The Times of India has reported that Motorola is now willing to replace the small number of devices that have been affected.
The issue specifically relates to the back cover, with a number of users reporting that it has unglued from the handset.
One Reddit user, ‘iouiu’, posted the following: “So I just picked up my delivery of a newly assembled Nexus 6 that I ordered from Play Store in Canada and this is how the phone came out of the box.”
He then proceeded to post an image that showed a clearly fault Nexus 6 handset, continuing: “The back seems to be peeling off from the sides and pressing the cover down does nothing as the back pops back into the same position as seen in the images.”
He added: “I think this is a manufacturing error with the glue becoming too weak in the Canadian winter while shipping.”
It seems that it’s not just a Canadian issue however – users from both the UK and the USA have reported the same fault.

The Nexus 6 launched back in October last year, although limited supply meant it had been difficult for many to get a hold of one.
It boasts a 5.96-inch QHD display, a Snapdragon 805 chip clocked at 2.7GHz, 3GB of RAM, and a 13-megapixel camera with optical image stabilisation.
TrustedReviews rated the handset 7/10, praising the giant screen, build quality, and front-firing speakers, but found the awkwardness of holding the device, slow camera focusing, and over-the-odds pricing less than impressive.
