LG has used the G Flex to mock the bendy iPhone
LG has waded in to the iPhone 6 bendgate debate, taking to Twitter to mock the issues with Apple’s latest phone.
With a number of early iPhone 6 Plus owners reporting their new handsets are bending and distorting when carried in their trouser pockets, LG has become the latest company to take the opportunity to mock its market-leading rival.
Using its official Twitter feed to get its dig in, LG tweeted the message “#bedgate ??? #GFlex”. The comment was accompanied by a particularly bendy picture of its own intentionally flexible phone, the LG G Flex.
Not alone in its Apple berating, LG’s teasing follows mocking comments made earlier today by BlackBerry CEO John Chen in regards to Apple’s iPhone 6 woes.
Launching the company’s latest phone, the BlackBerry Passport, Chen teased Apple’s misfortunes, stating: “I challenge you to try bend our Passport.”
Following the phone’s release last Friday, September 19, a number of complaints have surfaced around the iPhone 6 bending when carried in pockets.
According to early adopter, many of whom have posted images of their misshapen phones, the iPhone 6 Plus distorts when put only moderate amounts of pressure.
Taking to Apple forums, one owner, dubbed ‘hanzoh’ explained how their iPhone 6 Plus came to be warped.
They stated: “Yesterday, I left at 10am with the iPhone in my left front pocket of my suit pants. I drove 4 hours to a wedding, which also involved a lot of sitting during dinner etc but also 2-3 hours of dancing.
“I left at 2am and went to bed, driving home 4 hours back. So in total, the 6 Plus was about 18 hours in my pocket while sitting mostly. As I lay it on the coffee table and sat down on the couch to relax from the drive (yes, sitting again), I saw the reflection of the window in the iPhone slightly distorted.”
Despite complaints from consumers and mocking from its rivals, Apple has yet to formally comment on the claimed iPhone 6 problems.
