Despite the Samsung Galaxy S5 being just days from launch, latest reports have suggested a Samsung Galaxy S3 Android 4.4 KitKat update is being readied for release.
One of ten Samsung handsets reportedly set to be on the receiving end of an Android 4.4 KitKat update, the Samsung Galaxy S3 could join the more recent Samsung Galaxy S4 in running Google’s latest mobile OS, according to a leaked Samsung update roadmap.
Despite having been tipped to be in the works, no timeframe has yet been given for when the Samsung Galaxy S3 update will be introduced.
Surfaced through Android blog, Phandriod, the leaked Samsung update roadmap has suggested the Samsung Galaxy S3 will be joined by the likes of the Samsung Galaxy S3 Mini and Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom in joining the KitKat-themed movement.
Citing “a source close to the matter,” the newly surfaced reports have claimed the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active, Samsung Galaxy Note 2 and Samsung Galaxy Mega will also be updated.
Not limited solely to smartphones, it has been claimed the Samsung Galaxy Tab 3 7.0 and Samsung Galaxy Note 8 tablets will also be on the receiving end of Google’s latest OS.
With the Android 4.4 KitKat update having only recently started a rollout to owners of the flagship Samsung Galaxy S4 and Samsung Galaxy Note 3 handsets, we anticipate quite a wait before the likes of the S3 are updated.
