HTC M8 tipped for March New York launch

The HTC M8 could be set for a March launch at a special event to be held in New York.

HTC’s next flagship smartphone following last year’s well-received HTC One had been tipped for an MWC 2014 launch at the end of February, but that may not prove to be the case.

The ever reliable Twitter tipster, @evleaks, recently announced that it was "Starting to look like a late March, NYC launch for HTC M8."

This follows recent suggestions from the same source that the HTC M8 will do away with capacitive fascia buttons, which would make it the first HTC device to ever do so. Instead, the new phone will adopt the virtual command bar of devices such as the Google Nexus 5.

Elsewhere, the HTC M8 is expected to feature a 5-inch 1080p display, a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 CPU, and 2GB of RAM.

Other rumours suggest an innovative new twin-sensor UltraPixel camera for superior image quality, focus capabilities, and depth of field effects. It’s also been suggested (thanks to some handily leaked cases) that the HTC M8 could feature an integrated fingerprint sensor.

Expect the M8 to run on Android 4.4 KitKat out of the box, as well as featuring a brand new HTC Sense 6.0 UI, which could well stray even closer to stock Android if that new virtual command bar is anything to go by.
