A GTA 5 Xbox One and PS4 release could be on the horizon, the game’s publisher Take-Two has hinted during its quarterly profits call.
With GTA 5 having to date launched only for Xbox 360 and PS3, there have been calls to bring the title to both next-gen consoles and PC, calls which Take-Two has teased could soon be answered by developer Rockstar.
“Rockstar will make appropriate announcements about the releases as they come,” Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick said while fielding questions on plans to expand GTA 5’s platform reach.
He added: “We feel very optimistic about our outlook going forward and very encouraged by the results we have had to date."
Despite dropping hints that Rockstar is already working on a wider GTA 5 launch, the publisher has remained tight-lipped on reports from last week claiming that a GTA 5 PC release is just weeks away from being confirmed.
"At this point there is really nothing for us to say about that,” Zelnick said. “We haven't announced anything as it relates to any of the platforms versus what's out there.”
Although confirming that GTA 5 was the highest selling game of 2013, shifting a staggering 32.5 million copies, Zelnick has revealed that any future platform announcements will come direct from Rockstar and not through Take-Two.
"We are going to leave it to our labels to talk about what happens with their properties going forward,” he said. “I know at times, on these calls people would like me to talk much more about upcoming releases and sometimes there is some frustration that we don't.”
