Acer has announced it will launch a duo of new smartphones at MWC 2014 next week, the Acer Liquid E3 and Acer Liquid Z4.
The 4.7-inch Liquid E3 will be a bargain model to go up against the likes of the Motorola Moto G, but actually the 4-inch Liquid Z4 is even cheaper than the E3.
Acer Liquid E3 Features
The Acer Liquid E3 features a 4.7-inch HD IPS display powered by a quad-core 1.2GHz processor with 1GB of RAM.
It’s equipped with 4GB of internal storage, which doesn’t quite match the minimum 8GB offered with the Moto G.
Unlike the Moto G it only runs on Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean, but Acer has guaranteed this will be updated to Android 4.4 KitKat “later this year”.
It does have a fantastic f1.8 13-megapixel rear camera with auto focus and a secondary 2-megapixel front camera with flash for selfie taking and video calling.
There’s no mention of 4G LTE connectivity, but there is in-built GPS and Wi-Fi within its 8.9mm slim body.
It will be available in April for the suggested retail price of €199 (£163).
Acer Liquid Z4 Features
The Acer Liquid Z4 is the true budget option to the Liquid E3, with a 4-inch display running on a dual-core 1.3GHz processor.
There’s 4GB of internal storage, but the Z4 crowning glory is its f2.4 5-megapixel rear camera with auto-focus and LED flash. Sadly, there’s no front-facing camera to speak of.
The Z4 is 9.7mm thick and comes with Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity, but again there’s no 4G LTE.
It will come in Essential White or Titanic Black in April, with a suggested RRP of €99 (£81).
