LG G2 mini officially confirmed for MWC 2014 unveiling

LG has officially confirmed the LG G2 mini will be launched at MWC 2014 in Barcelona next week.

The LG G2 mini is the compact version of the flagship LG G2, which will launch with mid-range specs and hopefully a smaller price tag.

“Recent trends have seen the emergence of larger screens and phablets, which offer an incredible viewing experience on the go, however we must not forget that there is still a huge appetite for smaller devices that fit conveniently into pockets and handbags,” said Andy Coughlin, Head of LG UK Mobile.

“We are incredibly excited about the arrival of the LG G2 mini, which brings many of the features consumers have come to love about the LG G2, but in a more compact size. The reception to the G2 has been very positive from both media and consumers alike and we are confident that the G2 mini will continue this success.”

LG G2 mini Features

The LG G2 mini features a 4.7-inch QHD 960 x 540p display running Android 4.4 KitKat, downgrading the rather impressive 5.2-inch full 1080p HD display of the LG G2.

It seems the device will launch with different processors depending on the market it is launched in. In the UK, the 4G LTE and 3G version will use a 1.2GHz quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 400 processor with 1GB of RAM.

Powered by a 2440mAh battery, the G2 mini comes with 8GB of internal storage complemented by a microSD card.

In the rear is an 8-megapixel camera, coupled with a 1.3-megapixel front-facing option.

Available in Titan Black, Lunar White, Red and Gold, the G2 mini has Bluetooth 4.0 LE, Wi-Fi and GPS connectivity. The 4G LTE version also comes with NFC.

LG G2 mini Release Date and Price

The LG G2 mini will be officially unveiled at MWC 2014 for a release date in March. There’s currently no word on pricing, but there will be a dual-SIM version for markets outside the UK.
