Samsung has confirmed plans for a turbo boosted Samsung Galaxy S4, with the revised edition of its market leading flagship phone set to double current 4G speeds.

Formally announced by CEO J.K. Shin, the speedy S4 variation will reportedly make use of the LTE-Advanced 4G networks available in certain countries, with the handset doubling current cellular speeds and allowing for 1 minute movie downloads on the move.

“We’ll be the first with the commercial launch of the advanced 4G version of the smartphone,” Shin said in an interview with Reuters. He went on to suggest that the turbocharged S4 will be made available in the company’s native South Korea later this month.

While the UK will miss out on the LTE-Advanced enabled Samsung Galaxy S4 due to its lack of network support, the speedy advanced 4G networks are also available in current parts of Russia. Samsung has suggested that it is in talks with global carriers for the newly announced S4 option but failed to shed any further light on availability.

"As operators seek to provide more data-centric mobile services, I think this will become mainstream 4G technology globally in the coming years," Shin said discussing the LTE-Advanced technology.

Discussing the latest S4 spinoff he added: "S4 sales remain strong. It's selling far stronger than the (Galaxy) S3… and the new LTE-Advanced (4G) phone will be another addition to our high-end segment offerings that ensure healthy profit margins," Shin said.

Aside from the revised LTE-Advanced technologies and a compatible Qualcomm CPU, the new Samsung Galaxy S4 will be the same as existing models with a 5-inch Super AMOLED, 1080p Full HD display and a 13-megapixel rear-mounted camera.

Building on the flagship handset Samsung has, in recent weeks, unveiled a trio of S4 branded spinoffs, with the sub-sized Samsung Galaxy S4 Mini and waterproof Samsung Galaxy S4 Active entering the realms of reality ahead of the optical zoom camera bragging Samsung Galaxy S4 Zoom.
