iPhone 5S and iPhone Light
Diagrams of the reportedly upcoming iPhone 5S and budget iPhone have leaked online courtesy of accessory makers.
The design plans, apparently originating from Apple, reveal the first look at the iPhone 5S and budget iPhone, named in these diagrams as the iPhone Light.
Suggesting the iPhone Light will have a similar form factor to the iPhone 5S and current iPhone 5, it will have the same 4-inch display, but be slightly wider and thicker in the body.
Both the iPhone 5S and iPhone Light will have the original home button and front-facing FaceTime camera at the top and bottom of the 4-inch display as with previous iterations of the Apple smartphone.
Although the iPhone 5S will strongly resemble the iPhone 5, the iPhone Light will have curved back edges similar to the iPod Classic.
Both supposedly upcoming Apple handsets will have Lightning connectors, top lock buttons, volume controls, headphone jacks and speakers in the same locations as the iPhone 5.
On the rear, however, the diagrams show the iSight cameras with rear-facing microphone and flash. The iPhone Light looks to have the same single LED flash and camera as the iPhone 5, although of course these diagrams don’t offer any specs. The iPhone 5S though has an elongated flash design that suggests earlier rumours of a double LED flash may be correct, greatly improving the brightness of the camera’s flash and low-light or night-time shots.
Using the diagrams a “well-known third-party case manufacturer” created a 3D render of the iPhone Light, which can be seen below.
Of course, these diagrams may be completely fabricated but are in-line with other budget iPhone and iPhone 5S rumoured that have surfaced online.
Apple is expected to launch the iPhone 5S in the autumn along with the general release of its new iOS 7 mobile operating system, potentially along with the budget iPhone dubbed the iPhone Mini or iPhone Light.
