Microsoft is to launch a new tablet, with the 256GB Surface Pro confirmed for release next week.
Set to hit Japan on June 7, the large storage Microsoft Surface Pro will look to address concerns with the tablet’s limited user available storage capacity. The Windows 8 tablet range has come under fire since launch, with the 32GB Microsoft Surface RT iteration using almost half of this capacity to host the pre-installed software.
While a UK 256GB Surface Pro release has yet to be confirmed, Microsoft has revealed that the tablet with laptop esque storage capabilities will land in Japan in the coming days priced 119,800 yen (£780).
With Microsoft set to pair the tablet with a pressure sensitive pen stylus, the larger capacity Surface Pro will be compatible with the same Touch Cover and Type Cover that adorn the currently available renditions of the iPad 4 rival. For those with less intensive needs, a 128GB capacity Surface Pro is also set to land.
Microsoft Surface Pro Features
A workhorse of a tablet more than a pure entertainment offering, the Microsoft Surface Pro runs Windows 8 and benefits from the features bestowed on Microsoft’s operating system, including Office.
Lining up with a 10.6-inch 1080p Full HD display, the Surface Pro is the high-end sibling to the RT and this shows in its specs sheet. Powered by a 1.7GHz Intel Core i7 processor, the Microsoft Surface Pro is a true ultrabook rival with 4GB or RAM also thrown into the mix.
Weighting in at 910g the Surface Pro is not particularly light and at 13.5mm thick, neither is it slim.
