Amazon Home Services lets you hire a goat herder for a day

Amazon has launched a new retail platform called ‘Amazon Home Services’, which offers up a host of at-home services available for purchase.

There’s loads of different services on offer, with many expected options including plumbers, electricians, and home cleaners.

There are, however, some more oddball services up for grabs, including aerial yoga classes, a silk aerialist performance, and even a goat herder.

The latter, somewhat amusingly, is listed as being in 'beta', offers the services of ‘hand-picked pros’, and comes backed by a ‘happiness guarantee’.

To enjoy Amazon’s Home Services, you’ll need to enter your zip-code (US-only, for now) to see what’s available near you.

Amazon shows price lists for all services, and the company is requiring that business offer the same prices online as they do in other places.

The service description explains what you’ll get, how to book, and shows reviews from other customers (and goats, potentially).

It’s a move away from Amazon’s existing modus operandi whereby the company traditionally ships tangible goods.

Instead, Amazon is now expanding into the services space. That’s a sensible move, as the company already has the necessary software infrastructure in place to facilitate such a business.

It also means customers now have one more reason to head over to Amazon.com, which will likely claw in more sales for physical goods too.

Amazon is no stranger to rocking the retail boat; it’s already launched a Just Eat-style takeaway service, and even ships fresh food to customers in the US.

There is currently no information regarding a Home Services UK launch.
