Fitbit could have new wristbands on the way
Wearables manufacturer Fitbit is planning to unveil a new generation of activity trackers, judging by marketing materials posted online on Tuesday.
Gizmodo has obtained what looks like official documentation proving the existence of the Fitbit Charge and Charge HR wristbands.
The report also shows images and feature lists for the new devices, suggest the Charge range will be very similar to the Fitbit Force, which the company had to recall last year.
{pullquote}According to the leaked documents, the Charge HR will be the pick of the bunch with continuous heart rate monitoring technology, something which hasn’t appeared in a Fitbit device to date{pullquote}.
Other more standard features include the ability to track steps, distance, calories burned, floors climbed, active minutes. It’ll also monitor sleep, displays caller ID and is water resistant.
The launch would allow Fitbit to get back on track following the recall of the Force wristband, following widespread complaints of skin irritation.
No word yet on when the devices may be launched, but the existence of the marketing materials seems to suggest it won’t be long. We’ll keep you posted.
