Apple Store down ahead of iPad Air 2 unveiling

Ahead of tonight’s expected iPad Air 2 unveiling, Apple has temporarily taken down its online store; suggesting new products are on the way.

In what has become a familiar precursor to new product unveilings, the Apple store has shut its digital doors for the afternoon, instead being replaced by the company’s traditional holding note.

"We'll be back" a note on the Apple Store homepage reads. It adds: "We're busy updating the Apple Store for you and will be back soon."

It is likely the store will reopen with new products in tow shortly after the refreshed iPads enter the realms of reality this evening.

Although the Cupertino-based company has yet to formally detail exactly what new products will be announced this evening, an iPad Air 2 tablet is believed to be heading for launch alongside an iPad mini 3, new Macs and a heavily updated Apple TV unit.

While all these new products are unlikely to be immediately available for purchase, the store could offer pre-orders and early looks at the upcoming devices.
