The Samsung 10.5-inch AMOLED tablet specs have been revealed ahead of an official announcement by Samsung.

We’ve been hearing rumours of a new Samsung AMOLED tablet since the end of last year, but as there has been no actual product launch yet, the rumour mill is still churning.

According to Sammobile sources, the AMOLED slate will feature a 10.5-inch super AMOLED display with a 2560 x 1600p QHD.

It will be powered by a quad-core Qualcomm Snapdragon 801 processor with 2GB of RAM and feature 16GB, 32GB or 64GB of internal storage bolstered by microSD card support.

Running on Android 4.4.2 KitKat, it will be powered by a 7,900mAh battery and feature a Ultra Power Saving Mode to make the most of that battery.

In the rear is apparently an 8-megapixel camera, while up front is a 2-megapixel video-calling option. There will be both a Wi-Fi only model and a 4G LTE version for you to choose from.

This could potential be quite the iPad Air rival, especially as Apple’s tablet offers a 9.7-inch display with a 2048 x 1536p resolution and 264ppi image density.

The Samsung Galaxy Tab Pro 8.4 and Samsung Galaxy Note Pro 12.2 both share the rumoured AMOLED display’s resolution, as does the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.

Samsung hasn’t released an AMOLED display slate since the ill-fated Samsung Galaxy Tab 7.7 back in 2012, so hopefully this one will be a little more successful.

With such a high-spec quality display the AMOLED tablet, which still hasn’t been officially or unofficially named, should be quite a pricey tablet.
