The Nvidia Shield 2 could pack a rather impressive specs sheet, according to some AnTuTu benchmarks anyway.
From the information presented in these fresh AnTuTu benchmarks, it looks like Nvidia has kitted out the rumoured follow-on to its Android Nvidia Shield console with some high-end hardware.
It looks like the Shield 2 will feature a powerful quad-core Tegra K1 processor clocked at 2.5GHz with 4GB of RAM, plus it will offer a Kepler GPU with 192 CUDA cores.
Compared with the current model’s quad-core 1.9Ghz Tegra 4 processor with 2GB of RAM, the Shield 2 CPU is quite a marked difference.
The screen resolution has been boosted from 1280 x 720p HD to 1440 x 810p HD, with that extra 90p taken up by the on-screen Android navigational bar.
There’s no mention of a display size for the Shield 2, but we guess that it could be the same size as the current 5-inch screen. Anything larger would make the device a little less portable than the existing mini-console.
You’ll apparently get 16GB of internal storage, hopefully bolstered by microSD card support as well.
The current Shield just got the Android 4.4.2 KitKat update, so it makes sense for the second-generation to come with the latest Android OS out of the box. It will also supposedly feature a 0.3-megapixel front-facing camera as well.
Hopefully, the second-generation Shield will actually launch in the UK. Currently, the Shield Android console is a US exclusive and hasn’t made its way officially across the ocean yet.
