Apple is expected to announce a MacBook Air update next week, offering a minor specs bump for the lightweight laptop.
Although rumour has it Apple is preparing an even thinner and lighter MacBook Air with Retina Display to launch later this year, the Cupertino company has a mini refresh coming a little sooner.
A new report suggests the new MacBook Air models with improved specs but without Retina displays will launch next week.
Both the 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air models will be updated next week, but the actual improvements to be made are still unknown.
Some expect Apple CEO Tim Cook to announce a 12-inch MacBook Air with Retina display at WWDC 2014 in June along with a OS X Mavericks update and the new health-centric iOS 8 mobile OS.
Currently, the entry-level 11-inch and 13-inch MacBook Air comes with a 1.3GHz dual-core Intel Core I5 processor with 3MB shared L3 Cache and 128GB of flash storage.
You’ll also get 4GB of 1600MHz LPDDR3 onboard memory as standard. Intel HD Graphics 5000 is also included as is a 720p HD FaceTime camera.
Both models come with 802.11ac Wi-Fi and Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity options. With the 11-inch model, you can expect 9 hours of web browsing or 8 hours movie playback on a single charge.
The 13-inch model has a longer battery life, offering 12 hours of web browsing and 10 hours of movie playback thanks to a larger 54 watt-hour battery.
Both come with the latest OS X Mavericks operating system installed as well as Apple apps like iPhoto, iMovie, GarageBand and the Apple iLife Suite.
The exact date for this alleged MacBook Air update has yet to be announced, but we’ll keep you posted as and when we hear more.
