Samsung Gear Fit launched with curved AMOLED display

The Samsung Gear Fit has been launched as a fitness tracker with a curved super AMOLED display at MWC 2014.

Complementing the new Samsung Gear 2 and Gear 2 Neo smartwatches, the Gear Fit is aimed at those looking for a more streamlined fitness tracker.

“We’re excited to be expanding our Gear product portfolio with a range of unique device so there is something for everyone, irrespective of their different lifestyles, interests and needs,” said Simon Stanford, VP of Samsung UK’s IT and Mobile division. “The new range includes the Gear Fit which we’ve designed specifically to help those of our customers that want to live a more fit and active life but don’t want to sacrifice their own personal style or ability to stay connected on the go.”

Samsung Gear Fit Features

The Samsung Gear Fit offers a 1.84-inch Super AMOLED display with a 432 x 128p resolution. It is powered by a 210mAh battery, which offers around 3-4 days on a single charge or around 5 days with low use.

Samsung has equipped the Gear Fit with a pedometer, accelerometer, gyroscope and heart rate monitor to provide you with fitness data tracking.

According to Samsung the Gear Fit is “much more than an everyday fitness band”, and provides instant notifications from Samsung Galaxy smartphones, including the newly released Samsung Galaxy S5.

You’ll be able to see whether you have incoming calls, emails, alarms or other notifications on your smartphone while you’re on the move.

Similar to the Gear 2 Neo, the Gear Fit features interchangeable straps in black, orange and mocha grey.

The Gear 2 also provides “customised, real-time fitness coaching” that will be tailored to your fitness and workout regimes.

There’s Bluetooth 4.0 LE connectivity in-built and the Gear Fit is IP67 water and dust resistant like the S5.

What’s also handy for your workout sessions is an in-built stopwatch and timer.

Samsung Gear Fit Release Date and Price

The Samsung Gear Fit will be released in April, with Samsung keeping any pricing details close to its chest for now.
