Nokia XL announced as 5-inch Android device

The Nokia XL has been officially announced as a 5-inch Android phone, part of Nokia's new X family.

The 5-inch Nokia XL complements the 4-inch Nokia X and Nokia X Plus handsets also announced at MWC 2014 on February 24.

"The X family boasts Nokia’s exciting, high quality hardware design and a range of bright colours", said Ian Delaney, editor of Nokia Conversations. "The brand new, tile-based Home screen offers you a simple, elegant way to manage your apps and phone functions and also reintroduces a redesigned version of the enormously popular Fastlane notifications centre – a second Home screen if you like – from the latest Asha devices."

Nokia XL Features

The Nokia XL features a 5-inch 800 x 480p WVGA display running Android overladen with Nokia's heavily Windows Phone 8 influenced UI.

Running on a 1GHz dual-core Qualcomm Snapdragon S4 processor with 768MB of RAM, the Nokia XL comes with 4GB of internal storage coupled with microSD support up to 32GB.

It is powered by a 2000mAh battery that claims to offer 30 days on standby, 13 hours 3G talktime or 37 hours of music playback.

The dual-SIM Nokia XL also comes with a 5-megapixel rear camera with autofocus, 4x digital zoom and LED flash. There's also a 2-megapixel front-facing camera for selfies and video calling.

Bluetooth 3.0, Wi-Fi, GPS and 3G connectivity are also included.

Nokia XL Release Date and Price

The Nokia XL released date has been scheduled for some time in Q2 2014, with the device available for around €109 (£90).
