The Samsung Galaxy S5 camera specs and features have been leaked ahead of the flagship’s official unveiling on February 24.
With an MWC 2014 launch heavily anticipated, the full info surrounding the Galaxy S5’s camera and its features have emerged online.
According to Sammobile sources, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will have a 16-megapixel sensor, most likely utilising Samsung’s own ISOCELL camera technology.
This sensor will be able to shoot 4K UHD resolution video at 30fps and full 1080p HD at 60fps.
Samsung will apparently be bringing back a dedicated camera button with the S5, but it will be “invisible”.
The so-called “Side Touch” button will take the form of a sensor built into the bottom right of the S5, rather than as a physical button of old, or on devices like Sony Xperia Z1 or the Nokia Lumia 1020.
To take a picture, all you’ll need to do is tap the side of the S5. To ensure no accidental Side Touch moments, it’ll be disabled when the phone is in portrait mode, easy mode or when you’re recording video.
On the software front, Samsung will equip the S5 with a tonne of new features apparently, including the ability to capture images with different resolutions.
Like the Xperia Z1, the Galaxy S5 will apparently allow you to capture pictures ranging from 2.4-megapixel right up to the top end 16-megapixels. You’ll also be able to switch between different ISO levels from ISO100 to ISO800, or simply opt for auto mode.
Building on the existing camera features introduce with the Samsung Galaxy S4, the S5 will also have 3D Tour Shot, Focus Select, Continuous Shot and some other new additions. For the full list, see below.
The S5’s camera app itself will have a few cosmetic changes too, in order to match the flagship’s new overall TouchWiz UI system theme.
The new camera modes are as follows:
- 3D Tour Shot: Create interactive virtual tours of your surroundings.
- Focus Select: Make your subjects stand out against the background by adjusting the depth of field.
- Dual Camera: You can take pictures and record videos using the front and rear cameras at the same time.
- Aqua: Appropriate for taking pictures underwater.
- Animated Photo: Create a picture containing moving objects by animating parts of the picture.
- 3D Panorama: Create a spherical panorama of your surroundings.
- Golf: Take pictures of a golf swing. You can then play the pictures forwards or backwards.
- Auto Portrait: Take self-portrait with the rear camera.
- Continuous Shot: Take pictures continuously.
