The Order: 1886 release date has been delayed until 2015, in order to give the developer more time to polish.
Ready at Dawn’s PS4 exclusive, The Order: 1886, has been pushed back from its original 2014 launch window to allow more time for polish.
Speaking on the PlayStation EU blog, Ready at Dawn CEO and Creative Director Ru Weerasuriya admitted the game’s release date has been delayed.
“As we look to bring this experience to the players, we have decided to spend some extra time to deliver on the promise we made when we first introduced the game,” said Weerasuriya. “As such, you can expect The Order: 1886 to come exclusively to the PlayStation 4 in early 2015.”
The new The Order: 1886 trailer provides some of the background behind the game’s setting, location and costuming.
The Order: 1886 is set in an alternate version of Victorian Era London, which is threatened by war.
Attempting to bring the war to an end is The Order, the new version of The Knights of the Round Table. These knights use technology and an element called the Blackwater that imbues them with inhuman longevity and enhanced physical abilities.
These can be used in combat using a state known as Blacksight, which is shown off in the latest The Order: 1886 gameplay footage.
“It feels like the 1886 that was, but then out of the corner of your eye, there are certain things that we deliberately deviate from history just to have that bounce between getting that first read of believability and the second read of wow, that’s kind of cool and different,” said Nathan Phail-Liff, Art Director.
“We didn’t want to react history, we wanted to twist it,” added Weerasuriya.
