Google Nexus 8 coming June 25 with 64-bit Tegra?

The Google Nexus 8 could arrive on June 25 at the annual Google I/O conference.

It looks like Google could launch an 8-inch Nexus slate at Google I/O, with the device strongly believe to be going under the codename, Flounder.

This was recently seen in a piece of Google code and potentially revealed the 8-inch tablet could be made by HTC.

Now tech community site Myce has spotted several references to the Flounder device that suggest it will launch within the next month.

What is interesting is that one post mentions that the Nexus 8 may pack a 64-bit Tegra CPU, which would put it on par with the iPad mini 2 and its 64-bit Apple A7 processor.

Earlier rumours suggest the Nexus 8 will come with a 2560 x 1600p 8.9-inch display, which could push up the price of Google’s first 8-inch tablet.

Earlier this week, it was speculated Google has released a picture of the Google Nexus 8 in a promotional image used on the Google I/O website.

However, it turned out it was just a manipulated image of a Google Nexus 10 rather than a mysterious new tablet.

There’s not much leaked information around the predicted specs of the Nexus 8, but hopefully it’ll be quite impressive, just like the Nexus 10.

If Google does launch an 8-inch slate, it’ll have to compete with the likes of the Amazon Kindle Fire HDX 8.9.
