HTC has confirmed that its latest Sense 6 UI will be making its way to last year’s HTC One by the end of May.
Sense 6 made its debut with the HTC One M8, which launched last month. However, we now know that it won’t be long to wait until HTC One M7 owners get a slice of the action.
HTC America president Jason Mackenzie recently tweeted: "Reminder that Sense 6 will push to current HTC One users by end of May."
Of course, this only relates to American and Canadian users. But that fact in itself offers a positive indicator to the rest of the world.
The US tends to experience extensive delays to its smartphone software updates, thanks to the meddling of its powerful mobile network operators. So the chances of other parts of the world seeing an HTC Sense 6 update before the US are pretty strong.
Besides the original HTC One (retroactively dubbed the M7), the HTC One mini and the HTC One max will also be getting the Sense 6 treatment.
Although HTC claims that Sense 6 has been redesigned from the ground up, we found it to be fairly similar to Sense 5 on the HTC One M7. It has taken a step closer to Android 4.4 KitKat in terms of visual style, and the BlinkFeed update feature has been streamlined.
Original HTC One users should be able to compare and contrast some time over the coming month or so, if this latest news is any indicator.
