Network provider Three has confirmed that it has started to roll out its own 4G services to rival the likes of EE, Vodafone and O2.
The last of the UK’s leading networks to jump on the 4G bandwagon, Three had previously stated that its high-speed network would be introduced in December, with the smartphone provider now confirming the first phase of its 4G services have been introduced.
“We have started rolling out 4G as promised but we have started very small,” an official Three spokesperson confirmed to TrustedReviews. “We want to ensure the user experience remains strong.”
They added: “We have to make sure that everything is spot on.”
Making the original announcement through its official Twitter feed, Three has kept its 4G launch relatively low key, with just a handful of users across a trio of launch cities currently able to access the 4G network. The company has confirmed that London, Manchester and Birmingham are currently receiving a gradual 4G introduction.
“We’ve started our rollout in December as we promised,” the Three UK Twitter feed told one follower. The company added: “The rollout will start with a few thousand customers and will accelerate into early next year. We’re still finalising the exact dates when we’ll rollout to any particular area.”
Three confirmed its 4G plans back in August, with the network stating that it will not charge existing users any extra to make use of the high-speed services as long as they already own a 4G ready handset such as the Samsung Galaxy S4 or LG G2.
