Sky has today launched its popular Sky Go app on Android tablets, with the Google powered devices finally catching up with Apple’s iPad offerings.
The updated Sky Go app will work on most major all Android tablets, provided they’re running Android 4.0 Ice Cream Sandwich or above.
The launch follows the recent announcement that Sky intends to create a unified Sky Go app, optimised for both Android smartphones and tablets; with plans to implement a landscape mode to the software’s menu screen also in progress.
The app is optimised to work best on tablets between 7-inches and 10-inches in size; however, it remains incompatible with the Asus transformer TF101 and Amazon Kindle Fire devices.
Sky Director Luke Bradley Jones, stated that the launch of Sky Go on Android tablets enabled “even more customers to enjoy the flexibility and convenience of watching their favourite content wherever they want.”
Sky Go has long been available for iOS devices and can be downloaded for free from the App store, whilst the new app for Android devices can now be found for free from Google Play.
