Netflix has made its Super HD high quality streaming option available to all of its subscribers.
Super HD, which Netflix launched in January, is a step up in quality from from the company's Full HD 1080p streaming standard.
However, up to now the on-demand media streaming company has only made the new standard available on a handful of ISPs with direct links to Netflix.
Now all Netflix subscribers can access Super HD content regardless, though there are still a couple of understandable caveats.
Obviously you need a fairly decent internet connection in order to be able to stream at such a high standard. If you can attain speeds of between 5Mbps and 7Mbps, you should be set.
The second restriction concerns the device you use to access Netflix - not all of them will support the new standard. Generally, if you have a Blu-Ray player, smart TV or streaming player that supports Netflix 1080p, you should be alright.
In addition, support has been confirmed for subscribers who own a PS3, Apple TV 2012, Roku with 1080p, Nintendo Wii U or a Windows 8 PC with the Netflix app.
Thanks to Netflix's adaptive streaming technology, you won't have to do anything to enable Super HD content. If your connection and device can take, Netflix will employ its premium standard automatically.
It should be noted that not all Netflix content is available in Super HD just yet.
Netflix has taken the opportunity to urge ISPs to sign up for the company's Netflix Open Connect content delivery network, which optimises Netflix streaming performance by storing popular shows on local servers.
