Instagram updated for iOS 7, brings larger photos and less clutter

Popular photo-sharing service Instagram has become the latest big name app to update its wares for the new Apple iOS 7 software.

In a largely expected move, the Facebook-owned app has offered an update to reflect the cleaner, minimalist look of Apple's revamped mobile OS.

There's certainly less clutter within the new Instagram app, while photos and videos appear larger and stretch from edge-to-edge, maximsing the iPhone's display real estate. That increase in size on the display also reflects a higher photo resolution, although Instagram doesn't go into specifics.

In a post on its official blog, the company wrote: "We’re also happy to say that increased size means increased resolution, so photos and videos will be clearer and more vibrant than ever.

"In grid view, we streamlined things so that your content will also appear larger. We led our redesign with a focus on clarity to keep the feel of Instagram clean, simple and grounded in the photos and videos you discover and share.

"Lastly, in keeping with iOS 7’s conventions, we’ve made profile pictures circular so Instagram feels at home on your phone."

Instagram v 4.2 is now available to download from the App Store. Happy snapping.
