Fujifilm X-M1 CSC unveiled

The Fujifilm X-M1 has been unveiled as the camera manufacturer’s latest compact system camera (CSC), packing the same CMOS sensor as the Fujifilm X-Pro1.

Equipped with the same large 16.3-megapixel APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor as high-end full frame models like the Fujifilm X-Pro1, the Fujifilm X-M1 is the third CSC model from Fujifilm.

Fujifilm X-M1 Features

Around half the size of a regular SLR body, the Fujifilm X-M1is compact and has a retro design. Weighing just 330g, the CSC has a 3-inchtiltable HD LCD monitor with Wi-Fi connectivity and a hot shoe.

The Fujifilm X-M1’s main selling point is its large APS-C X-Trans CMOS sensor that offers 16.3-megapixels. It is able to offer picture quality comparable to full-frame sensors and has what Fujifilm calls a “unique colour filter array” to reduce any irregularity in still shots.

Sharp and vivid pictures can still be achieved in low-light conditions and at night as the Fujifilm X-M1 features an ISO range from 200 to 6400 in third step increments. Extend ISO12800 and ISO25600 are also available.

Packing the Fujifilm EXR Processor 2 engine, the Fujifilm X-M1 starts up within 0.5s, has a shutter time lag of 0.05s and has a burst speed up to 5.6 frames per second for up to 30 frames each time.

It has two Command Dials for user adjustments to settings like aperture and shutter speed, and the Mode Dial allows for appropriate scene selection.

The Fujifilm X-M1has Super i-Flash technology included with its built-in flash to regulate the amount of light emitted according to the photographer’s current location.

The CSC is also capable of recroding Full 1920 x 1080p HD videos at 30fps. Users can also, as with still shots, add their own creative effects to personalise their footage.

Fujifilm X-M1 Release Date and Price

The Fujifilm X-M1 will come bundled with an XC 16-50mm f/3.5-5.6 OIS kit lens with a focal length equivalent to 24mm-76mm. The bundle will be on sale for £679.99 from the end of July.
