Escape Dead Island to keep gamers busy until Dead Island 2

Deep Silver has announced Escape Dead Island, as a new game for last-gen consoles to bridge the gap between Dead Island games.

Launching for Xbox 360, PS3 and PC later this year, Escape Dead Island is a rather unusual “survival-mystery game” that reveals the origins of the virus plaguing the citizens in Dead Island and upcoming Dead Island 2.

“Escape will finally reveal the origins of the virus, and even some tantalising clues as to where the events are going to lead… but it’s going to be up to you to decide what to believe,” said Deep Silver’s Senior Narrative Producer, Alex Toplansky. “That’s because this story-driven single player game is play through the eyes of Cliff Calo, who’s watching his world unravel.”

The game will take place on an all-new island and is created using a graphic novel influenced art style.

What makes the game a little different is that you’ll have to deal with Calo’s mind slowly unravelling as he battles the zombie hordes.

“Cliff struggles with his own sanity as the world around him begins to become increasingly unpredictable. Time distorts and folds in on itself; strange messages appear and impossible events shatter reality. Oceans turn to blood, containers plummet from the clear sky.”

It looks like you might be required to solve a few puzzles as well as the usual zombie slashing and smashing.
