The iPhone 6 mock-ups that have emerged online are close to the final design, despite them missing a few Apple design trademarks.
Apple is expected to introduce the iPhone 6, and potentially the iWatch too, at a special event in September and the majority of leaks suggest it will come with a larger 4.7-inch display and revamped design.
A new report from Japanese newspaper Nikkei states that the recent spate of iPhone 6 mock-ups that have emerged online of late are a strong indicator as to what you can expect the smartphone to look like.
However, these mock-ups are apparently of low build quality and don’t accurately depict the finish and sheen we can expect from real iPhone 6 devices.
The report states that the iPhone 6 will feature the same glass panelling at the top and bottom of the rear casing as found in the iPhone 5S. The thick white lines shown on the current mock-ups are just to show where the glass panelling will be, breaking the back panel up as with the iPhone 5/5S.
What’s interesting is that the Nikkei report suggests the iPhone 6 will feature a curved display that fits perfectly into the aluminium shell to create a seamless body. The iPhone 5S has a 45-degree diamond cut edge, but the iPhone 6 will do something a little different.
We’re not talking Samsung Galaxy Round or LG G Flex curved displays here, but more that the edges of the glass will seamless transition into the rounded aluminium edges.
The iPhone 6 should feature the Touch ID fingerprint sensor technology introduced with the iPhone 5S and run on a new Apple A8 processor, which is focused on increasing battery life rather than major performance enhancements.
The iPhone 6 will also be one of the first to run iOS 8 out of the box and come pre-installed with new features like iCloud Drive introduced at WWDC.
