The Android Wear Moto 360 smartwatch should launch alongside the Motorola Moto X+1 and come with Moto Maker support.
So far, all we know is that the Moto 360 release date is pencilled in for some time “later this summer”, but now it seems that it should launch alongside a brand new Motorola flagship.
According to a PhoneArena source, Motorola is preparing to launch the Moto X successor alongside its round-face Android Wear smartwatch in the coming months.
There isn’t much known about the Moto X+1, but there was some suggestion of it packing a 5.2-inch 1080p full HD display and offering a slightly more refined design with front-facing speakers.
Motorola already confirmed the existence of its next flagship in a placeholder accidentally published on the Moto Maker website. Plus a summer Moto X+1 event would fit with the August launch for the original Moto X last year.
If Motorola launches the Moto X+1 and Moto 360 together, you might even be able to pick up a specially priced bundle for the two later this year. Some retailers are offering such a deal for the LG G3 and LG G Watch, with Three offering a £100 discount on the G Watch when the two are bought together for example.
The other interesting comment to come from the source is that the Moto 360 may be included under the Moto Maker service.
This means that you could potentially customise your brand new Android Wear watch using the service, but as yet the exact breadth of options to be made available are unclear.
Motorola has already announced that you’ll be able to get a black or steel body for the Moto 360 face. Moto Maker then could let you choose the kind of strap you want your smartwatch to have.
The intention at the moment is to offer leather, metal and a more sporty rubber option at launch, but there are murmurs the metal bands might not be available at launch.
