The HTC One M8 will reportedly get a stock Android makeover




With the HTC One M8 finally set to be formally unveiled this afternoon, new leaks have revealed that a HTC One M8 Google Play Edition is also on the cards.


Arguably one of the most eagerly gadgets of the year, the HTC One M8 has been the subject of multiple leaks and premature unveilings in recent weeks, with a stock Android Google Play Edition M8 now making early appearance.


Teased by the Google Play Store available HTC Gallery app, an update has inadvertently revealed that the Taiwanese manufacturer will offer a Sense UI-free HTC One M8 through Google’s online outlets.


“The HTC Gallery provides you with a range of fast and easy ways to locate your photos,” the app’s description reads. “With Image Match, simply choose a photo with the object or person you want to find and it will locate similar images for you.”


The listing goes on to tease: “Timeline View allows you to locate images by day, month or year. And POI Location searches photos that have been taken at a particular place. Now it’s fast and easy to find all the photos you need to. Support for HTC One(M8) Google Play Edition is limited to HTC Photo Edit.”


Although a Google Play Edition of last year’s HTC One handset was made available, the handset was exclusive to US-based smartphone shoppers.


While the phone has been teased, there are currently no details on the HTC One M8 Google Play Edition release date or pricing.


With the flagship phone set to be formally unveiled later today, the handset will run reportedly see a 2.3GHz quad-core processor paired with 2GB of RAM, Google’s Android 4.4 KitKat OS and an innovative new dual-lens rear-mounted camera.
