Xbox One debut for Top Gear's The Stig in Forza Motorsport 5

Xbox One gamers will be able to race as the "digital cousin" of Top Gear's The Stig in Forza Motorsport's fifth installment, Microsoft has confirmed.

The legend's relative will have a starring role in the Turn 10 Studios game thanks to a collaboration between BBC Worldwide and Xbox.

Fans will be able to test themselves against the test driver while playing the game and even have the opportunity to beat the "infallible" driver's cousin.

Players can also try their hand at taking on the Top Gear test track including tricky corners Hammerhead and Gambon.

In addition, Jeremy Clarkson, James May, and Richard Hammond will be on hand to give voiceovers in a new Career Mode where users have the chance to pit themselves against realistic opponents in events organised by car genre.

“Trying to beat The Stig on track has long been the petrol-fuelled dreams of Top Gear fans everywhere," said Duncan Gray, Top Gear’s Commercial Director at BBC Worldwide. "Whilst Jeremy and the team did not want to frustrate or embarrass gamers by putting forward the real Stig, they did help us track down a potentially more fallible relative of their tame racing driver.”

Forza's released on on November 22, but until then Top Gear fans can watch The Stig's digital antics in a just-released video that's launching to coincide with the Supercheap Auto Bathurst 1000 car race taking place this Sunday in Australia.

It shows the driver whizzing around a test track in an Xbox emblazoned vehicle while the V8 Supercar crew is left unawares.

“The partnership between Forza Motorsport and Top Gear has featured many highlights over the years," said Dan Greenawalt, creative director on Forza Motorsport 5. "Including The Stig’s digital cousin in the game is a natural extension of that creative partnership.

"Now, on top of racing against the best virtual drivers in the world online or against brand new cloud-powered Drivatar opponents in career mode, players can tackle the digital cousin of one of the world’s most celebrated racing icons."
