Samsung Galaxy S5 to be waterproof and dustproof from the outset?

New rumours suggest Samsung will manufacture the Samsung Galaxy S5 to be waterproof and dustproof straight out of the box.

Attempting to rival the likes of the Sony Xperia Z and Sony Xperia Z1, Samsung is looking to focus more upon introducing waterproof and dustproof handsets.

According to a Korean news site, Electronics Times, the Samsung Galaxy S5 will be a waterproof and dustproof smartphone straight from the box, rather than being introduced as a separate device like the Samsung Galaxy S4 Active.

Apparently the Galaxy S4 Active was a lot more popular than Samsung expected, causing the South Korean manufacturer to reassess how it designs its phones from the outset.

Samsung is also looking to introduce a Samsung Galaxy Note 3 Active as a rugged version of its recently launched 5.7-inch stylus wielding smartphone. This could also pack a flexible, unbreakable screen.

Samsung Galaxy S5 Rumours

Tipped to follow in the footsteps of the iPhone 5S with a 64-bit processor, the Samsung Galaxy S5 specs sheet should include a metal body rather than the plastic or leather effect “textured back cover” of the Samsung Galaxy S4 or Galaxy Note 3.

The Samsung Galaxy S5 is rumoured to have the same 3GB of RAM as the Galaxy Note 3, but pack a 16-megapixel rear camera for high-end photography.

Potentially offering faster processing power, the 3GB of RAM could be made using Samsung’s new low power DDR3 chips, which would mean a slimmer device with an enhanced battery life.

We’d be very surprised if the Galaxy S5 deviated too far from the design hues of the Galaxy S4, but we imagine it might take some tips from the ultra-slim bezel of the LG G2.

Of course, Samsung has yet to offer any official word on the Samsung Galaxy S5, but that won’t stop rumours like these coming in until it does.
