iOS 7 shown running on iPad

We now have a better idea of how iOS 7 will look on iPad after Apple updated its official website, and also thanks to some industrious developers.

Apple launched iOS 7 at WWDC a week ago, but the big reveal was entirely centred around the iPhone. There was no sign of the bright new mobile OS running on any of Apple's tablets.

That's now changed. If you head over to the iOS 7 section of the official Apple website, you'll note that Apple has inserted a new image of iOS 7 running on iPad 2, iPad with Retina display (iPad 4) and iPad mini.

It's just a glimpse of the home screen, as you can see, but it's good to see how Apple's bold new design language will translate to the larger form factors of the iPad range.

Elsewhere, developers have been running the beta version of iOS 7 through the iOS Simulator - essentially a desktop emulator for developers to test iOS software - in order to produce their own impressions of how it will look at 9.7 or 7.9-inches.

Of most note here is a neater, less in-your-face Control Center that takes up a relatively thin section of the screen when dragged up.

It's being rumoured that iPad builds of iOS 7 are a little behind the iPhone version, which is why Apple didn't focus on its tablets at all at the big reveal, and also why there are no iPad iOS 7 beta versions available for developers.
