Samsung Galaxy NX launched as interchangeable lens CSC with Android and 4G SIM

The Samsung Galaxy NX has been officially unveiled as a follow-on to the Samsung Galaxy Camera, landing as the first interchangeable lens camera to run Google’s Android OS and an LTE SIM.

Offering on-the-move web access, the Android powered camera is the first in Samsung’s flagship NX range to be bestowed with an integrated SIM port, allowing for mobile connections and on-the-fly image transfers and uploads, direct from the camera.

In unveiling the smart snapper, an official Samsung spokesperson has suggested the Samsung Galaxy NX offers “the whole digital imaging experience within a single device.”

Simon Stanford, Vice President of IT & Mobile Division, Samsung UK & Ireland stated: “We’re excited to be leading the way in innovation with the launch of the Samsung Galaxy NX. The aim of this device is to combine the high image quality associated with the NX camera with the ease of use and speed of 4G capability with Android. Perfect for taking incredible images and sharing them quickly.”

Samsung Galaxy NX Features

Building on the company’s high-end NX camera line, the newly unveiled Samsung Galaxy NX will see Google’s Android OS and an expansive 4.8-inch TFT touchscreen display bundled in with interchangeable lens options and a 20.3-megapixel APS-C CMOS image sensor.

More than just an impressive stills snapper, the Samsung Galaxy NX boasts 1080p Full HD video capture capabilities at 30 frames-per-second, and is also compatible with Samsung’s line of 3D lenses for extra-dimensional shooting. The Galaxy NX plays host to a 1.6GHz quad-core processor.

As much a web-based entertainment device as a standalone snapper, the Samsung Galaxy NX specs sheet is further enhanced by 3G and 4G LTE connectivity options via a SIM card, as well as dual-band Wi-Fi compatibility. It packs 2GB of RAM, 16GB of internal storage expandable via microSD up to 64GB and runs Google’s Android 4.2.2 Jelly Bean OS.

Having been skinned with Samsung’s familiar TouchWiz UI, the Samsung Galaxy NX software capabilities are further enhanced by the company’s Camera Studio software and app collection allowing you to edit and share pictures directly from the camera itself.

Rounding off the Samsung Galaxy NX features list, the futuristic camera sports a 4360mAh Lithium-Ion battery, an inbuilt flash with hotshoe expansion and an electronic viewfinder. A HDMI connection also makes the cut.

Samsung Galaxy NX Release Date and Price

While a Samsung Galaxy NX price is reportedly set to be announced close to the camera hitting retailers, the South Korean manufacturer has confirmed a Samsung Galaxy NX release date will be held in July. The camera’s launch is still to be narrowed down to an exact date.
