iPhone 5S component pictures surface online, reveal same 4-inch display

Components for the iPhone 5S have leaked online, revealing the handset will pack the same 4-inch display as the current iPhone 5.

The slightly blurred images come courtesy of MacRumours and show that the next iPhone will carry on the exterior design of the iPhone 5, meaning the next Apple smartphone will probably be the iPhone 5S rather than a completely revamped iPhone 6.

Looking nearly identical to the iPhone 5, the iPhone 5S will feature upgraded innards, similar to the iPhone 4S update to the iPhone 4.

Recently leaked iPhone 5S components suggest the smartphone will come with an improved camera and new home button.

It is suggested that the iPhone 5S will come with a larger image sensor for the forward-facing camera, perhaps rivalling the Samsung Galaxy S4’s 2-megapixel front-facing snapper.

The iPhone 5S could also pack a completely revitalised home button, potentially featuring a fingerprint scanner for increased security features.

Strongly tipped for a September launch, the iPhone 5S could come in a spectrum of 6 – 8 colours, similar to the increase range of options available for devices like the 5th generation iPod Touch or iPod Nano.

Of course, the iPhone 5S will run the recently unveiled iOS 7, which is described as “the most significant iOS update since the original iPhone”.

The iPhone 5s may also be beaten to market by a budget Apple handset. Reportedly to be known as the iPhone mini, the cheaper iPhone handset will be available in 5 colours and pack an array of reduced spec innards.

The iPhone mini could offer a mid-range alternative to the iPhone 5 or future iterations of Apple’s flagship. Expected to retain the 4-inch display of the iPhone 5, the iPhone mini could feature a plastic form factor rather than the brushed metal finish of the current flagship to reduce the handset’s cost.
