Xbox One release date confirmed for 'later this year', answers gamers dreams

The Xbox One release date has been confirmed, with Microsoft’s newly unveiled next-generation console to hit retailers ‘later this year.’

Set to go head-to-head with the recently confirmed PS4, the new Xbox Infinity, formally teased as the Xbox 720, will touch down “later this year,” with a likely holiday season launch to see Microsoft attempt to capitalise on the lucrative pre-Christmas shopping period.

Speaking during the official XboxReveal event at Microsoft’s HQ in Redmond, Don Mattrick stated: “The Xbox One will be released around the world later this year.”

Teasing more details to come, he added: “This is just the beginning. We can’t wait to share the next chapter of our story in a couple of weeks at E3.”
