Not content with pushing wearables to your wrist, Huawei has unveiled its first pair of activity tracking headphones, the Huawei TalkBand N1,
Entering the realms of reality during the company’s MWC 2015 press conference, the N1s are a pair of hybrid headphones, combining an integrated MP3 player with Bluetooth call handling capabilities and bundled sensors to keep tabs on your runs.
Unlike the Jabra Sport Pulse, there is no integrated heart rate sensor here, however. Instead, an in built accelerometer helps monitor all the usual data metrics, including steps taken, distances covered and calories burned.
“The N1 features a fitness tracker, they let you call friends via Bluetooth call handling and you can store and play music on them,” an official Huawei spokesperson announced.
Bigging up the headphone’s integrated activity tracking options, they added: “We will also have a companion app to let this do everything that a standard fitness tracker is supposed to do.”
Fitness features aside, these in-ear headphones are full of surprises. 4GB of internal storage means that up to 1,000 music files can be synced or side loaded onto the device.
What’s more, with Bluetooth 4.0 connectivity options built in, stereo Bluetooth calling can be achieved, both while tracking your runs and sat in the car.
Featuring magnetic buds to keep the headphones secured together while not in use, the N1s also boast a 67mAh Lithium-Ion battery. While this might sound pee-wee when compared with your phone’s power pack, Huawei has promised this is enough to get users through three days of steady use on a single charge.
For those who are so inclined, you can even wear the Huawei TalkBand N1 to bed for sleep monitoring. Utilising the incorporated sensors, sleep times and patterns can be tracked with captured data being relayed to the accompanying iOS and Android apps.

Although a Huawei TalkBand N1 release date and price is still unclear the Chinese manufacturer has confirmed the IP54 splash resistant audio enablers will be available in three colours at launch.
With gold, metallic grey and pink options coming for day one, further colour schemes have been mooted for future release.
