Smartwatch pioneer Pebble is preparing to announce its next generation wearabl early next week, judging by a countdown clock on the firm’s website.
The clock runs out on Tuesday February 24, suggesting the eagerly-anticipated successor to the Pebble and the Pebble Steel will be revealed. The website allows curious smartwatch fanciers to “Enter your email to be the first to know.”
A 9to5Mac report (via TechRadar) suggests the company is on the verge of launching a brand new wearable with a colour e-paper display, while the watch will be slightly wider and “encased in an overall thinner design.
Pebble itself has also hinted it has completely redesigned its operating system to rely less on standalone apps.
Earlier this month Pebble CEO Erik Migicovsky said the new software doesn’t “look like what we have today, and it doesn't look like what's on your smartphone.”

Pebble may be relying on this differing approach in order to stave off the forthcoming challenge from the Apple Watch, while Android Wear is also competing for market share.
