An Android developer has posted a smartphone wallpaper purportedly taken from the stock wallpaper folder of the HTC One M9.
The green, hilly vista, apparently a backdrop for the fast-approaching device, was uploaded by Twitter user @LlabTooFer, apparently capitalising on the perks of his dev status.
What’s more, the user also says he will be posting a wallpaper from the device every day until the handset’s launch at Mobile World Congress in Barcelona on March 1.
The key thing to take away from this leak is that we’ve been given a huge clue as to what the display resolution of the HTC One M9 will be.
The wallpaper measures 1920 pixels vertically by 2160 pixels horizontally, which means it’s a scrolling Android background designed to fit a 1920 x 1080 pixel display.
This is in contrast to previous rumours that suggested the HTC One M9 would carry a 2K resolution display.

It’s worth noting that due to shared ratios, an image would not need to be resized by a phone to correctly fit either a 1920 x 1080 Full HD display or a 2560 x 1440 2K display.
It would seem odd, however, if HTC upped the screen resolution on a flagship device, and then decided to use lower quality images for the stock wallpapers.
This all lends further credence to the suggestion that the 2K display rumours are referring to a different handset, namely the HTC One M9 Plus.
This device is expected to carry a bigger 5.5-inch display, more likely running at a 2560 x 1440 screen resolution.
