The Samsung Gear S is heading stateside, with the Tizen-powered wearable set to launch in the US next week.
With the sizeable smartwatch having been unveiled back at IFA 2014 last month, the Moto 360 rival has been confirmed for an American release next Friday, November 7.
Given the wrist wear’s integrated 3G connectivity options, the device will be made available to consumers through a range of US networks, including the likes of Verizon, Sprint and T-Mobile.
There is currently no word on a confirmed Samsung Gear S UK release date, although reports yesterday claimed the watch’s British launch had been pushed back to mid-November due to stock constraints.
“Samsung continues to shape the wearable category with advanced technology and new experiences,” Gregory Lee, President and CEO of Samsung America said.
He added: “A growing developer ecosystem will further expand the capabilities of the Gear S with fitness tracking services like Nike Running and on-wrist turn-by-turn navigation from HERE and more.”
An oversized piece of wrist fodder, the Gear S packs a 2-inch curved AMOLED display alongside the ability to make a receive calls without a synced handset.
Having shunned Android Wear for the device, Samsung has bestowed the Gear S with a 1GHz dual-core CPU, 512MB of RAM and 4GB of internal storage.
