Samsung is in the process of developing a smartwatch with a rounded face, according to new reports on Monday.
SamMobile brings word from its sources claiming the device will arrive as a direct response to the as-yet-unreleased, but well-received Moto 360 smartwatch.
The report offered no indication on when the rounded device would be made official, but it is highly unlikely to arrive alongside the Galaxy Note 4 and the Gear 3 combination expected at next week’s IFA tech show.
It is also unclear whether Samsung would launch such a device with its own Tizen operating system or seek to rival the Moto 360 on Google’s Android Wear OS.
If the device is out to rival the Moto 360 - and the incoming round-faced smartwatch from LG - then we might be able to assume this will be Samsung’s second Android Wear device.
Elsewhere in the report, SamMobile claimed the forthcoming Gear 3 smartwatch will come with a SIM-slot making it possible to receive notifications without being connected to an existing smartphone via Bluetooth.
Late last week, reports claimed the new Gear 3 would offer a very pronounced curved screen, taller than the underwhelming Gear 2 but not as slim as the Gear Fit.
Can Samsung finally perfect the smartwatch at the seemingly umpteenth time of asking? Let us know your thoughts in the comments section below.
